Walking is good. Not getting lost is even better!
So the tourist office provides a special hiking booklet with distances and difficulty levels.
There’s something for all abilities, from family to sporting to the Sunday walker. Ultimately, there are 15 routes through the forest of Bertranges, the vineyards of the hills around La Charité and the banks of the Loire where you can discover, along the way, La Charité’s villages and hidden rural areas. (Price: 6 euros.)
The Tourist Office also offers hiking cards sold for 1 euro each.
The Mardelles
2km from the centre of Prémery, the Mardelles form a natural area of ecological, floral and wildlife interest, classified as a regional nature reserve. Under their magical appearance, the Mardelles hide immense fragility. Trails have been created on this site to allow the public to discover and learn about this environment, so rich yet so fragile.
Different circuits are marked out:
– Wilderness Trail : 0.8km
– Osmonde Trail : 1.3 km (possible with large-wheeled pushchairs)
– Softwood Trail : 1.7 km
– Spring Trail : 5 km

In summer, over half a day, each week, the association organises walks in July and August to discover the region’s wonderful paths and remarkable places. Free.
